Berlin, 19/05/2026: As Germany deepens its economic partnerships across Africa, Mozambique has emerged as a focal point for investment, infrastructure development, and renewed confidence in long-term economic recovery.
In Berlin Prof. Stefan Liebing met H.E. Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique. It marked the second high-level exchange with the Mozambican government within a short period, following an earlier meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Water Resources. The Foreign Minister underlined her government’s clear interest in expanding German-Mozambican cooperation, with a particular focus on economic partnership and concrete investment and infrastructure projects.
These exchanges take place as international financial institutions, led by the World Bank, support Mozambique through a multi-year financing programme of around USD 6 billion for economic recovery, institutional strengthening, and resilience. The Center’s engagement, including through Prof. Stefan Liebing, positions it within this evolving framework of strategic Germany-Africa cooperation.
