Berlin, 28/01/2026: At the New Year Reception of Table.Briefings leading representatives from politics, business and civil society gathered to reflect on a year shaped by geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and shifting transatlantic dynamics.
Among the invited guests was Prof. Kay Pfaffenberger and Prof. Stefan Liebing. Prof. Kay Pfaffenberger participated as “Top of the Table” scientific expert of Africa. His invitation underlined the increasing strategic relevance of the African continent in current German and European policy debates.
For Prof. Pfaffenberger and the Africa Center’s work, the evening underlined the importance of academically grounded, practice-oriented dialogue that connects policy strategy, economic cooperation and long-term partnership thinking between Germany, Europe and Africa.
During the reception, Prof. Pfaffenberger had conversations on the future direction of German policy toward Africa. The exchanges reflected the broader debate on how Germany positions itself strategically in its relations with African partners.
