Lecture and discussion on the “green deal” and energy policy in Africa

Flensburg, 29/04/2024: A meet and greet took place at the university’s Presidential Board, where President Dr. Sven Tode introduced the university. As part of this event, Martin Kühn presented the CBTA and selected projects, with a particular focus on the CESAR project.

Representatives of the DAAD, Andreas Böhler, Head of the Department for Development Cooperation Programs, and Heike Heinen-Kritz, Senior Desk Officer for Higher Education Partnerships in Development Cooperation, also took part in the event. They emphasized that the DAAD programs implemented by the university fit perfectly into the BMZ’s target strategy and thus strengthen development cooperation.

Another highlight of the day was Dr. Bärbel Kofler’s lecture to students of Faculty 4 in Africa-related courses, which was open to the public at the university. Ms. Kofler thanked Flensburg University of Applied Sciences for the opportunity to discuss the Green Deal and energy policy in Africa with students from the Departments of Economics and Energy Sciences. She emphasized that the energy transition and climate protection can only succeed with strong international partnerships. It requires trust, recognition of the respective interests and fairness. African countries can choose their partners and Germany must make offers that benefit both sides, particularly in the areas of sustainability and energy.

The day concluded with a tour of the university’s FabLab.
