Flensburg/Cape Town, 17/05/2022: On Tuesday 17 May, a hybrid event on the CAPE-VET programme took place from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Participation was possible on site at Saratec, Bellville Campus, CPUT, Cape Town or online. Topic of the bilateral webinar was Dialogical Session on Research Findings in the TVET Sector of the Western Cape Province.
TVET is an abbreviation for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
Speakers from local universities and institutions came from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), the Professional Education Research Institute (PERI) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and from 5 TVET colleges.
Speakers from outside South Africa were from the Europa University Flensburg (EUF), Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (HSFL) and Wismar University of Applied Sciences (HSWI).
From our Centre for Business and Technology in Africa (CBTA), Prof. Dr. Axel Grimm and Jonas Gebhardt represented the EUF, while Prof. Dr. Kay Pfaffenberger together with Martin Kühn represented the HSFL.
Together with Prof. Dr. David Phaho (cover picture) of CPUT, they officially opened the webinar before it continued with an introduction to the CAPE-VET project from Wismar University of Applied Sciences.
This was followed by an overview of TVET qualifications at CPUT and the presentation of CAPE-VET research findings from an industry perspective as well as related to the professionalisation of TVET lecturers.
After two response speeches, the Dialogical Engagement took place before the event ended with a few closing remarks and perspective on research findings.
