Bonn, 13/10/2025: On October 2, 2025, the Ghana Country Day of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) took place at the Dorint Hotel in Bonn. The aim of the event was to bring together stakeholders from politics, science, and business and to provide impetus for increased German-Ghanaian cooperation.
Under the leadership of Dr. Erik Hansalek and with the participation of the designated Ghanaian ambassador, Professor Ohene Adjei (sworn in as Ghana’s ambassador-designate to the Federal Republic of Germany by President Mahama on September 4, 2025), a variety of formats were offered: A panel discussion on German-Ghanaian scientific cooperation, expert dialogues, information stands run by funding organizations, and get-together opportunities for informal exchange.
One focus of Ghana Country Day was the so-called expert dialogue in the humanities and social sciences, where opportunities for cooperation and possible formats for collaboration between German and Ghanaian institutions were discussed.
The CBTA workshop: Nexus Science & Economy
At the invitation of the BMFTR, Prof. Dr. Kay Pfaffenberger from the CBTA held a workshop on the topic of “Nexus Science and Economy”. In this interactive format, participants were asked to work with the 3-2-1 feedback method:
- Three topics that are particularly relevant in this context,
- Two challenges that exist with regard to these topics
- One example of a successful approach or good practice in this area of tension.
The results were then presented and incorporated into the discussion. This approach not only stimulated theoretical considerations, but also led to the discussion of concrete perspectives for action.
