E-Learning at our Partner University Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
Cape Town, 09/03/2017: Kerstin Schultheiß from the Centre for Business and Technology in Africa (CBTA) visited the E-Learning unit at our partner university CPUT in Cape Town.
During her visit she gained deep insights about the acceptance and usage of CPUTs’ E-Learning system and staff development programme. E-Learning is used in many different ways and supports the regular face-to-face lessons. Some lecturers provide their learning materials online, involve students in an interactive online discussion, and use e-assessment, grading and assignment tools. One clear advantage is the independence and flexibility it gives to both lecturers and students as they can have access to the system anytime and anywhere as long as a stable internet connection is available. Students and lecturers got to know its advantages during the recent student protest “Fees must fall” as they could easily continue their studies even though the university’s regular operations were strongly limited due to the protests. In cases like this E-Learning can be one way to continue and keep up operations.Because of this, E-Learning is getting more and more recognized and the demand for it increases.
