For Germany, the question of how to balance supply security, economic viability, and climate goals while structurally reducing dependencies has become increasingly urgent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a guest commentary for Handelsblatt, Prof. Stefan Liebing argues that Africa offers a strategic option for diversifying German energy supply. The continent holds around 13,000 billion cubic metres of gas reserves, roughly seven percent of global reserves, and its role in the LNG market is expanding, with exporters such as Nigeria, Algeria, Mozambique, and Senegal building long-term capacity and seeking partnerships with Europe.
