The project explored possible economic and financial implications of a European central bank digital currency in an international context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debate gained further momentum at Bundesbank Spotlight hosted by the Deutsche Bundesbank, where Joachim Nagel described the digital euro as a strategic step toward greater European autonomy, reducing reliance on providers such as Visa and Mastercard.
